Lying in the verdant hills of Galilee, approximately
halfway between Nazareth and Tiberias, KKL's Tree
Planting Center at Golani junction is the northernmost of
its planting centers.
The junction is named after the I.D.F's Golani
Brigade, which established a museum and memorial to its
fallen soldiers nearby. In addition to its modern
significance, the area is also steeped in thousands of
years of history, from the biblical story of Deborah the
prophetess and her victory over the Canaanite forces, to
the Battle of the Horns of Hittim, where Salah a Din led
his armies to victory over the Crusaders in 1187.
A variety of trees are being planted here, including
pine, cypress, acacia, pepper, lentisk, myrtle,
pomegranate, Judas tree, laurel, oak, cedar and carob
species.
HOW TO GET THERE
By private car, taxi, or tour bus,
follow the arrows on the map.
Head east from Golani junction toward Tiberia for 2
km. to the entrance to Kibbutz Lavi, where one sees a sign for the Tree
Planting Center. Turn left then left again following the signs to the
Tree Planting Center.
