WHERE ARE WE?

Ein Gedi is located on route 90 from Jerusalem to the south. Within the vicinity of Ein Gedi you will find the following:

Massada (The Roman Fortress) - 10 minutes south of Ein Gedi
Qumran Caves (Dead Sea Scrolls)

- 1/2 hour north of Ein Gedi

Ein Gedi National Park:
  - David Waterfall
  - Arugot Waterfall
  - Ein Gedi Antiquities

- 5 minutes from Ein Gedi
Ein Bokek (Hotel and Shopping area) - 25 minutes south of Ein Gedi
Jerusalem (Capital City) - 1 hour north of Ein Gedi
Ben Gurion Airport / Tel Aviv - 1 1/2 hours north of Ein Gedi
Beersheva (Biblical Town) - 1 hour 20 minutes south of Ein Gedi

= Guided tours and transport are available at any of these destinations. Bus routes are frequent, roads well maintained. All enquiries from Ein Gedi Country.

Ein Gedi/Dead Sea is a hikers paradise. The Nature Reserves are a good place to start but the whole of the Dead Sea is abundant with hikes, walks, caves, animals and history.

Here is an example of a typical one weeks holiday in Ein Gedi:
Day 1

  • Visit to Ein Gedi Spa
  • Wallow in the mud
  • Float on the Dead Sea
  • Frolic in the pool
  • Relax and unwind in the Hot Sulphur Pools
  • Return to the hotel, relax by the bar
  • Evening meal at the 'Country Hotel'
  • Evening entertainment in the lobby

Day 2

  • Hike in David's Waterfall ( Nature Reserve)
    • Level of hike – easy
    • Reduced entrance fee for hotel guests
    • Can be reached by foot, car or bus
    • Guided tours available on request (in English on Saturdays as a regular tour)
  • Return to hotel and relax at poolside overlooking the Dead Sea and the Moab mountains of Jordan.


Day 3

  • Northern Dead Sea Tour
    • Qumran
    • Visit to Jericho (Worlds Oldest City) – whenever possible
    • Ein Fascha Reserve
  • Return to Hotel and relax at poolside overlooking the Dead Sea and the Moab mounts of Jordan.


Day 4

  • Southern Dead Sea Tour
    • Nachal Pratzim (Nature Reserve)
    • 'Flour' Caves
    • Biblical region of 'Sdom'
    • Jeep tours available (booked in advance)
  • Return to hotel and relax at poolside overlooking the Dead Sea and the Moab mounts of Jordan.


Day 5

Early Rise – 04:00 !!!!! (Book a packed breakfast)

  • Travel to Massada, climb and watch the sunrise. An experience that definitely should not be missed.

Take a cable car to the foot of Massada.

  • Return to Hotel and relax at poolside overlooking the Dead Sea and the Moab mounts of Jordan.
  • Late afternoon guided tour of Kibbutz (enquire for details)

(This is free of charge for guests and is highly recommended)


Day 6

  • Visit to Ein Gedi Spa
  • Return to hotel – play 'mini golf'

Or swim in pool

  • Enjoy an 'Ayurveda' Massage in the Salt room at the hotel

This is not only highly recommended but also an absolute MUST!)

Day 7

Breakfast at 'Country Hotel'

  • Check Out from hotel
  • One last chance to enjoy the Ein Gedi Spa*

Staff of the hotel will be happy to help with arranging transport, tours etc. Even tours to Petra, Jordan are within their capability.
