Arbel is a small village of 75 families making a living on agriculture and tourism. The pioneers were previously soldiers from the Jewish brigade. In the past, Arbel was a big important Jewish settlement mentioned in the bible several times. In Arbel was the sight of the first fight against the Greeks that came to conquer Israel on their way to Jerusalem. In 345 BC the rebels in Arbel buicaves on the cliff lt in order to protect themselves from the Greeks.

The struggle against Herod and the Romans is described in detail by Josephus Flavyus. When the Mishnah and the Talmud were written in the 4 - century CE, there was a large Jewish population here and the remants of the ancient synagogue were excavated on Mount Arbel.

In Nebi Shu’eib, near Arbel, located on Karney Hitim mountain there is a tomb of the prophet Nebi Shu'eib. It is the holiest place for the Druze people known in Judeo - Christian tradition as Jethro (Moses's father - in - law).

On the same mountain in the year 1187 shlah a'din won the fight against the Crusaders.

Not only is it historic place, but it is an opportunity to see beautiful new places built among old historical sites.
